Roles in the Audio Department

A1: The Audio Engineer, Mix Engineer, or A1 is the stagehand responsible for operating the mixing console and ensuring the levels and sound is appropriate for the show during rehearsals and performances

A2: The Audio 2 or A2 job is to be the audio hands and eyes on-stage and backstage.

Main responsibilities

• Ensuring wireless mic batteries are good before each show
• Placing mics on stage and on people
• Remain in communication with the A1 during the show
• Assisting with moving mics during the show as needed
• Troubleshoot any audio issues that may come up during the show

Sound Designer: This roll is responsible for designing the auditory elements of the show. This would include sound effects, music, and environmental noises.
