Short Yoke A Light

Short yoking a light allows a light to fit in a narrower space.
The light in the foreground is not short yoked and can not be hung hanging down. The light in the background is short yoked and therefore can be hung straight down and is much easier to focus when there is not enough verticle room to hange the light.
The drawbacks to short yoking are that it take time to move the light in the yoke position and it can no longer be focussed straight down.

The specic instructions to short yoke vary for each type of light, but in general.

  1. Remove the light from the pipe.
  2. Ensure you have a workspace where you can’t drop or loose the hardware
  3. Remove the bolts and T-Nuts that connect the light to the yoke.
  4. Move the light into the upper set of holes
  5. Install the bolts and T-Nuts
  6. Rehang the light on the pipe

Not covered in photos, but Strand SL lights are offset hung, so they don’t get short yoked, but get spun around both in the yoke and in a collar for the same effect.
