Let’s Hang a Light

Hang each light so it is secure, locked, colored, and able to be focussed.

  1. Gather the proper light determine and locate the proper light by following the dorection of the lead electrician, designer, and or the plot. Remember that ERS lights have different beamwidths. Look for a number on the yoke and/or the barrell listing the beamwidth in degrees.
  2. Prepare the light unclip the safety cable (get a safety cable if there isn’t one) and loosen the C clamp so it will fit over the pipe
  3. Hang the light lift the light up and hang it on the pipe in the correct location and tighten the C clamp down by hand as far as it will go
  4. Tighten the light using a wrench, tighten the C clamp 1/4 to 1/2 turn beyond finger tight. Ensure the C clamp does not move on the pipe.
  5. Prepare for focus unwrap the power cable, open the shutters on an ERS, tilt the light up in the direction it will be focussed, ensure the gel frame clip is up
  6. Safety attach the safety cable
  7. Lock down make sure the yoke bolt, T Handles, C clamp set screw, etc. Are all tight and the light can not move
  8. Plug in following the directions of the plot or lead electrician - plug the light in and ensure the circuit it written down
  9. Color foloowing the directions of the plot or lead electrian - add the color and ensure the gel clip is down
